ACT Gateway
ACT Gateway is the secure testing application used to take the National online test. Using your MyACT Credentials, ACT Gateway also supports critical pre-test activities to ensure readiness to test. This application must be installed on your computer ahead of your desired test day in order to successfully take the test.
ACT Gateway supports the option to either bring your own device (BYOD), which could be a personal/school managed computer or test on a test center provided computer based on your registration option. MyACT will display important readiness deadlines and information about your upcoming tests.
Three Simple Steps to Complete Device Readiness
1. Identify Supported Computers
Personal Computer
A personal computer is a Windows or Macbook that you own or have exclusive use of. Personal Chromebooks are not supported.
You should have the ability to manage and install applications on this laptop.
School Managed Computer
A school-managed computer is a computer provided by a school for students or staff to use. These computers are typically managed by the school's IT department, which controls software installation, network access, and other settings.
How do you know if your computer is school managed?
Chromebook

*Note: All chromebooks will need assistance with the school to install ACT Gateway through Google Admin.
Windows
Go to Accounts > Access work or school, and if you see a school email address listed, your computer is likely school-managed.
MacBook
Go to System Settings > General > Device Management and look for the line: "This Mac is supervised and managed by [Organization name]".
- Your computer must be connected to Wi-Fi, fully charged and meet the minimum requirements.
- Personal computers can access and install ACT Gateway from the or .
- School-managed Chromebooks require school staff assistance to install ACT Gateway. Personal Chromebooks are not accepted.
3. Perform Device Checks
Open ACT Gateway and log in with your MyACT credentials to perform the Device check. This must be done prior to each test you have registered for.
Important: Device checks must be completed by the device readiness cutoff date or your registration will be canceled. Please do not perform the device check more than 30 days prior to your registered test date.

If you make any changes to your laptop after you perform device readiness check (example; installing or updating software), we recommend you perform the device readiness check again to ensure your change/update has not jeopardize your ability to take the test.
